Jacob deGrom is the best pitcher in all of baseball right now, and it would be difficult to make a case for anyone else at the moment. The 32-year-old Mets ace has been utterly dominant to start the 2021 season. He has a minuscule 0.45 ERA and has struck out 14 in back-to-back starts, giving him 35 Ks in just 20 innings of work. As if that weren’t enough, deGrom is also delivering at the dish as well, going 4-for-7 for an impressive .571 batting average through three starts. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner recently made comments stating that he wants to pitch into his 40s with the hope of becoming what he calls an ‘inner-circle Hall of Famer’. If he can pitch at or around this level for a few more seasons, he just might get his wish.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. deGrom currently sits fifth on the Mets’ career strikeout list, but if he does remain in Queens for the foreseeable future, the franchise strikeout record would likely be his. So with that in mind, how many of the pitchers with the most career strikeouts for every MLB franchise can you name in five minutes?
