After proclaiming he was going to scrap his slider following an outing five days earlier in which he failed to get out of the fourth inning, Greinke stayed true to that promise and threw eight scoreless innings as the Astros snapped a six-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over the Mariners on Saturday night in Seattle.

Greinke, relying on a fastball, sinker, changeup and slow curve, allowed four hits and delivered his third quality start in four attempts. No other Astros pitcher has a quality outing this year. The only run the Astros scored came on a two-out single in the fourth by Taylor Jones, who grew up in the Seattle area.
